Court: Woman Not Fit For Trial In Target Stabbings

WEST HOLLYWOOD (AP) — The woman accused of stabbing four people at a Target store in West Hollywood in May has been found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

Prosecutors say Layla Trawick was ordered to be sent to a mental hospital Wednesday after doctors agreed that she was incompetent.

The 34-year-old was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the May 3 rampage.

Police said she stabbed four people, including a woman holding a baby, with a butcher's knife and chef's knife.

Her friends and relatives say she has been in and out of psychiatric wards much of her life and became convinced that she was the test subject in a mind-control experiment.
