The Rescue Train Hosts 5th Annual Race For The Rescues

PASADENA (AP) — Emmy award winner, avid animal lover and star of FOX's "Glee" Jane Lynch, along with Carrie Ann Inaba of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," Danielle Fishel, host of "The Dish" on the Style Network, and Seamus Dever of ABC's "Castle," are helping The Rescue Train host its 5th Annual 5k, 10k Run/Walk and Kid's Fun Run, Race for the Rescues, at the renowned Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

This day of fun with Hollywood flair will raise funds for ten Los Angeles animal rescues and animal welfare foundations, all non-profit 501c3 organizations, who together help save thousands of animals' lives.

The event will be held on Sunday, October 24th, 2010. Registration begins at 7:00am and the race promptly kicks off at 8:30am.

This is Los Angeles' premier animal-related fundraising event benefiting the following non-profit rescue organizations: The Rescue Train, Best Friends Animal Society, Animal Alliance, A Dog's Life Rescue, Stray Cat Alliance, Four-Legged Friends Foundation, Molly's Mutts & Meows, The Jason Heigl Foundation, The Ozzy Foundation and Operations Heroes & Hounds.

Each year these groups combined, rescue and find homes for over 2,500 abandoned Southland dogs and cats, animals that most likely would otherwise have lost their lives. There will also be mobile dog and cat adoptions for LA Animal Services and Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. Lisa Young, Director of The Rescue Train, explains, "The difficult news is that the economy has hit many animal rescue groups this year including The Rescue Train, who has lost the majority of its grant funding. We need the help of animal lovers more than ever.

A successful Race for the Rescues gives hope for all of us to continue our important work." This year's turnout promises to be even bigger and better, bringing together families, children of all ages, Girl & Boy Scout troops and other community organizations, schools, even corporate teams, for a day of fun and fundraising for our furry friends!

In addition to the 5K, 10K run/walk, Race for the Rescues will also feature: -- Dancing with the Dogs exhibition -- Non-competitive Kids Fun Run -- Pet Adoption Event & Fashion Show -- After showing off their fashion-forward best, the pets from the Pasadena Humane Society/SPCA and Los Angeles Animal Services will be available for adoption! -- A huge Silent Auction,Kids' Face Painting, Pet Psychic, Dog Training Demonstration, Fun Prizes and More!
