Phony iPhones, Other Fakes Seized In Sweep

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Investigators have seized millions of dollars of phony iPhones, dodgy DVDs, counterfeit clothing and other items in a massive crackdown on fake goods in the Los Angeles area.

Federal and local officials said Tuesday that 30 people were arrested as the operation took place over the past week.

Authorities say the goods had a suggested retail price of more than $12 million. The largest haul came from a warehouse in the Santee Alley shopping district in downtown Los Angeles.

Most of the 47,000 items recovered in the crackdown were fake designer clothing and jewelry. In Orange County, Department of Homeland Security investigators seized four knockoff iPhones from a Garden Grove business.
