Farrah's Son Graduates From Drug Rehab Program

LOS ANGELES (CBS 2)  — Redmond O'Neal, son of actor Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, graduated Thursday from a court-ordered drug rehab program.

O'Neal, 25, was ordered into the program after two drug arrests, one involving heroin possession and one involving meth.

He appeared in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom Thursday along with a handful of other graduates of the program.

He thanked people who supported him during his treatment program and even hugged Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael A. Tynan.

Last September, he was sentenced in a third case to a minimum of a year in a residential drug-treatment program and three years probation following his no contest plea to a felony drug charge stemming from his arrest in a visitors' parking lot at a county detention facility in Castaic.

O'Neal will be on probation for two more years in that case.

His mother, Farrah Fawcett, died June 25, 2009, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
