There is nothing like a stroll through your neighborhood farmers market to help make making dinner fun for the whole family. In a city the size of Los Angeles, it is easy to find a farmers market any day of the week just a short drive away.

Malibu Farmers Market

The prepackaged area, which sells a large assortment of nuts, olives, baked brie, traditional Afghani and Chinese delicacies, an exquisite collection of sea salts, gourmet hummus, a variety of organic olive oils and vegan and gluten-free delights, provides enough reasons for me to hightail it out to Malibu.
West Hollywood Farmers Market
Plummer Park – N. Vista and Fountain Avenue 90046
A little too hung over to make it out on Sunday? West Hollywood has you covered with their Monday market where you can find everything you will need to get your week started.
South Gate Farmers Market
South Gate Park
Tweedy Blvd. between Walnut Ave. and Pinehurst Ave. 90280
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This is a small market but serves its purpose and its neighborhood well. For over 17 years the farmers involved have helped supply the local food bank and the workforce is on a complete volunteer system (volunteers are “paid” in produce).
Manhattan Beach Farmers Market
13th Street & Morningside Drive 90266
Now, this is a farmer’s market in its true form – you will not find crafts here or a petting zoo here. But you will find great food, both certified and non-certified.
Old LA Farmers Market

Los Angeles, CA 90042
This farmers market is perfect for the after-work stop off on the way home. They even offer a great kids’ area and arts & crafts to keep the whole family happy.

This is the largest grower-only certified farmer’s market in Southern California. Each Wednesday a local restaurant is highlighted, this week (August 15th) it will be Curious Palate
Lawndale Farmers Market

Located conveniently in downtown Lawndale at the Civic Center, this is an easy place to swing through on the way home from work to pick up something fresh for dinner.
Long Beach Farmers Market
Bixby Knolls, at Atlantic Ave & E. 46th St, 90807
on frontage road flanking the east side of Atlantic Ave
The Long Beach Farmers Market is probably one of my personal favorites. I have always been able to find exactly what I was looking for. The only downside is the short hours, so you definitely have to plan ahead to fit this farmers market into your week.
Glendale Farmers Market
100 Block of North Brand Blvd. 91203
This market features breads, vegetables, fruit and honey, flowers and plants galore. Some of the produce is organically grown but not all; just look for signs or ask the seller for details of their growing methods.
Venice Farmers Market
Venice Blvd. and Venice Way 90291
Ah, Venice. This market offers a great chance to get a taste of not only local produce but also local “flavor” as well!
