Straight from New York City, the Rockettes are kicking up their heels in the Southland this week, as they dance over to Anaheim before hitting the Nokia Theatre stage in downtown L.A. In addition to the colorfully costumed dancers, who are best known for their precision kicks, Santa Claus also will be on hand to take the audience on a sleigh ride to the North Pole.

Whether you want to check out the saber-toothed cats or the wooly mammoth fossils, all exhibits at The Page Museum are free to visitors on the first Tuesday of every month. Kids and parents alike can even take a peek inside the “fish bowl” laboratory, which often sports scientists working on new tar-pit discoveries.

Re-imagined by the West of Broadway theater company, this family-friendly tale takes a modern look at the spirit of Christmas.

Double-decker buses will carry Burbank visitors on a cozy ride around the city’s decorated homes and shops, all while serving complimentary hot chocolate and other treats. Carolers will also be on board to set the musical mood for the evening. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Salvation Army.

Winter Holiday Festival

Families of all sizes can get in the holiday spirit by heading downtown to Pershing Square for the annual Winter Holiday Festival. Children are invited to make holiday crafts and play in the Snow Fun Zone. There will also be a Winter Holiday Ornament Grove and complimentary entertainment. Ice skating is also available at Downtown on Ice for a fee.

Los Angeles Children’s Chorus Winter Concert

Highlighting 20 composers from 10 nations, the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus will perform their annual Winter Concert as part of the organization’s 25th anniversary celebration. The chorus, which features more than 350 L.A.-based children ages 6-18, will sing Italian art songs, a Buddhist prayer in Japanese along with holiday-themed works.
