In spite of the sluggish economy, 2012 saw the opening of many trendy boutiques. Some of these establishments were made by companies that were already established outside of Orange County hoping to capture a new group of shoppers. So far they seem to be doing just that, plus they’re prepped and ready for the upcoming holiday season.

Luna Boutique, which opened in Laguna Niguel in March, is the sister store to the one at 19680 Beach Blvd. in Huntington Beach. The store does not have a website but posts its merchandise on its Facebook page, which features an extensive collection of the styles it carries. Expect fashion geared toward shoppers from teens to 30 year olds, and from casual to funky, with prices starting around $25.

Irene’s Story is a Los Angeles-based designer and retailer selling contemporary clothing. The company is named after designer Irene Choi, who opened the first Orange County store in March at The Stores of Mission Viejo and following on its success, opened its second store Oct. 26 in The Spectrum in Irvine. There are three other stores in the Los Angeles area, in the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, the Waterside in Marina del Rey and the Americana at Brand in Glendale.

In 1974, Diane von Furstenberg created the wrap dress, which can be worn on any occasion, whether a business meeting, evening cocktails or that special dinner date. This April, she brought her design to South Coast Plaza with the opening of her first store in the area. The store carries merchandise that includes bags, one of the most popular being the Tonda small clutch, which sells for $295, as well as shoes and boots that run the gamut from $194 to more than $700. Fashionistas looking to save should check out one of its sales, where items can be had with as much as 60 percent off the retail price.
Mariposa Bridal Boutique

Mariposa was opened in August and has been voted one of Southern California’s most popular bridal boutiques by TheKnot.com. The store carries designer wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, prom and quinceanera dresses as well as the necessary accessories. Brides can request an appointment to fit their busy schedules as well.

Fashion Love Boutique opened in July and quickly became a favorite for the young, trendy set. The store carries a large inventory under $30, such as the soft fringed scarves, chambray blouses, flared faux leather skirts, and pretty and easy-to-match striped T-shirts. With the arrival of fresh inventory weekly, it is easy to stay ahead and attract clients who come to see the latest fashions on sale.
