Erin Snider, Mixologist at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel and his bar team came up with a creative way to blend both the Halloween fright with an autumn splendor into one smashing pumpkin tasting cocktail. Keeping with the Richard Sandoval Concept of Latin American flavors, Snider and his team decided to make a cocktail that looked like a “smashed pumpkin.”
“We started with the colors of Orange and Green. Jalapeño, Blood Orange and Passion Fruit all shaken together with a great tequila is a recipe for the perfect margarita,” said Snider. The taste is fruity and refreshing – perfect for sipping while enjoying the beautiful ocean views at the Ritz Carlton.

The landmark hotel has been around since 1929 and guests and locals alike are falling in love with the craft cocktails served up at the Kya Bistro Bar. Bar manager Sara said the staff and management put in a lot of research, time and effort to create the seasonal signature cocktails.
During the fall guests have an endless amount of seasonal flavors to choose including apples, spices, and cranberries but their two most popular cocktails are the Pumpkin Pie Martini and Pumpkin Mojito.
The Pumpkin Mojito is a blend of pumpkin puree, mint leaves, brown sugar, Captain Morgan spiced rum, fresh lime juice, topped with soda water and raw sugar cane. Sara said the Pumpkin Pie Martini tastes exactly like a pumpkin pie created from a blend of Stoli Vanilla Vodka, crème de cacao, pumpkin puree, a tiny splash of milk with a graham cracker rim.
