If you don't know about meetup.com this is the perfect time to find out more. Meetup is a great way to find like-minded people and in this case if you love movies, the Westside and have nothing better to do… why not check it out?! It's only $10/ per person ($12 at door) and includes: Free reign of Busby's, prize Raffles during commercial breaks, the proverbial Oscar Ballot with prizes and a big fat slice of celebratory Oscar cake. Sounds like the perfect time if you are young and single. You must join one of the meetups to attend.

For film buffs who want to get an early start on their Oscars celebration, Beverly Hills hotspot The Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills is mixing up delicious concoctions in their signature restaurant, Oliverio, in honor of the Best Picture nominees including the MaiTini for the Descendants, and the Horse Tail for War Horse - all $13 each. The libations will be available from now through Oscar Night, when you can also stop by to watch the show while sipping on your favorite film!

At Home Party Kit

More Info

If you are like me you will be with friends at someone's home. This year I will be at a Women only party at a friend's house – no kids, no men! It is my third year attending with this group and except that we sometimes get too loud to hear what's going on it's a blast.
If you are going in that direction and need some tips, The Academy has an 'Oscar Party Kit' put together by Katie Lee that gives you all sorts of tools including cocktail recipes, Oscar ballots, games and more.
Here's a recipe for Moet's Silver Screen Punch that I plan to whip up for our party:

Moet's Silver Screen Punch
1 (6 ounce) can pink lemonade concentrate, partially thawed
8 ounces pineapple juice
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1 cup vodka
1 bottle Moët & Chandon
1 pineapple, cut into rings and frozen
In a blender, combine pink lemonade concentrate, pineapple juice, strawberries, and ginger. Blend until smooth. Pour into a punch bowl. Add vodka and stir to combine. Just before serving, pour in Moet. Add frozen pineapple rings.

At Home Catering Ideas

If you'd rather not do the cooking there are a multitude of catering options. Here are two favorites of mine:
For smaller more intimate gatherings, I suggest Clementine café. They have a fabulous 'Roll Out the Red Carpet' menu with all sorts of selections including: Spanish Tapas Platter, Citrus-Marinated Grilled Shrimp, Grilled Steak with Olive-Onion Tapenade, their awesome Chicken Pot Pie, an array of chilis and salads, cakes, tarts, mini peanut butter dream bars… need I say more!
