Spend One Day With Matisyahu

Date: Tuesday, October 21

What do you get when you mix an Orthodox Jew with reggae, rock and beat boxing? You get Matisyahu, who will be playing the Ventura Theater on South Chestnut Steet in Ventura. Matisyahu burst onto the scene in 2005 with his top 40 hit, "King Without A Crown." Since then the West Chester, PA native has put out four albums and in 2010 his single, "One Day," was featured during television coverage of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Matisyahu's latest album, Akeda, came out earlier this year and cracked the top 10 of top independent albums, top modern rock albums, top rap albums and top rock albums charts. The concert starts at 8:00 p.m. and general admission tickets cost $48.

Catch Chris Paul Vs Eric Bledsoe

Date: Wednesday, October 22

Point guard Chris Paul and his former back up Eric Bledsoe will go head to head this Wednesday as the Clippers take on the Phoenix Suns for their second-to-last preseason game. Bledsoe and Paul combined to make one of the most skilled backcourts in the league before Bledsoe was traded for Jared Dudley and J.J. Redick in July of 2013. Head to the Staples Center for this 7:30 p.m. tip-off to watch these two talented point guards lock horns as well as all the high-flying play Clippers fans have become accustomed to from Lob City. Tickets are available online starting at $15.

Go Apple Picking

Date: Thursday, October 23

Fall is in full bloom and that means it's apple picking season! Venture over to Riley's Farm Fort Crossing in Oak Glen this Thursday for apple picking and delicious baked goods from the farm's very own bakery. Riley's Farm Fort Crossing has over 100 varieties of trees to pick from (literally) and specializes in Royal Galas and Gravenstein apples. After a quick check in at the Barn General Store for instructions you and your group will be on your way to a delicious day of exploring the farm's three acre spread. After you're done apple picking stop by the bakery to try some of their double-crusted apple pie or delicious chicken pot pie! The farm is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays.

Stay Scared From Dusk To Dawn

Date: Saturday, October 25

Come to the Aero Theatre this Saturday for their ninth annual Dusk-To-Dawn Horrorthon. The Horrorthon starts at 7:30 p.m. and ends at the completion of their seven film marathon. This year the lineup includes Creep Show, Gargoyle, The Thing, The Night Of A Thousand Cats, The Deadly Spawn, Basket Case and Zombie Holocaust. General admission tickets cost $20 with senior and student tickets for $18 and Horrorthon members get in for $15. Free food, giveaways and surprises will also be given out in between films!

Enjoy Some Pumpkin

Date: Sunday, October 26

October 26th is National Pumpkin Day! Celebrate the season's most famous fruit at Messhall Kitchen on Los Feliz Boulevard. Messhall brings in special seasonal treats every fall like their roasted pumpkin bisque with black truffle and fresh mozzarella grilled cheese or their winter kale caesar salad with bits of pumpkin thrown in. For dessert you'd be hard pressed to find a better value than their pumpkin cheesecake served with whipped cream and ginger snaps for just $9. The Messhall Kitchen is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. before reopening at 4:00 p.m. and closing at midnight on Sundays.
