The proverbial end of summer is simply the beginning to another glorious weekend of outdoor family fun in Southern California. Labor Day events in Orange County are as numerous and diverse as the cities in which you may find and enjoy them. Celebrate an annual fair, run with cartoon characters, relax in the park or embark upon a charitable cause with and for your children.

Hosted within historic and charming Old Town Orange, the Orange International Street Fair is a longstanding celebration of food, culture and community. Arts, crafts, live music, specialty entertainment and events for the kids and dozens of food and beverage vendors line the downtown streets. Admission is free as booths are organized and maintained by local non-profit groups. Enjoy clean, safe, family-friendly Labor Day festivities while contributing to the community and worthwhile causes.

You needn’t have a runner in the family to delight in the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend. Once you witness the spectacular event, it may just become your Labor Day family tradition. Three days, four races, a massive runner’s expo and pasta party invite joggers, walkers, volunteers, visitors and spectators to share in a Disney-themed celebration of fun, fitness and community. Watch the all-age races in and around the Disneyland Resort, and meet your favorite Disney characters. Enjoy live performances on the surrounding streets of Anaheim and cheer on your friends and neighbors. Proceeds benefit local charities.

This free concert series is a delight for the entire family, and yes, that does include the Labor Day big band, swing era extravaganza. Treat the family to a delightful Labor Day at the beach, then walk on up to Central Park to dance the night away. Ideal for picnicking, bring your blankets and chairs or spend the night on the dance floor. Free dance lessons will be provided before the Mike Henebry Orchestra performance, beginning at 4:15 p.m.
