Guide To dineLA's Happy Hour Week's Best Specials

Famous for its twice-a-year restaurant bonanza that sends Angeleno's into a tizzy booking reservations at spots around the city, dineLA is bringing an event that speaks to the food lovers and booze hounds alike--dineLA Happy Hour Week. From April 27-May 1, a roster of eateries citywide will offer happy hour menus for all those folks who can't get enough discounts in their lives. There will be no prix-fixe menus during this five day event, unlike Restaurant Week, and each restaurant's chefs and mixologists have been challenged to offer exclusive items only available during Happy Hour Week. Here are a few you will want to check out.

To celebrate dineLA's Happy Hour Week, Eagle Rock's Little Beaast restaurant will be participating in the action. On Tuesday, April 28th through Thursday and again on Sunday, from 5-6p, order half-priced small plates like a platter of whipped burrata or charred artichoke. There will also be select discounted beers and wines.

Black Hogg kicks off its first happy hour ever during this dineLA blowout. From Tuesday, April 28th through Friday, May 1st from 5-7p, you can order from its menu which features four exclusive food items--sambal olek chicken wings, a bahn mi with head cheese, fried shishito peppers and a top secret house-gound burger. The exclusive cocktail is the Korean Happy Meal, which is a unique mix of soju, kimchi sangrita, and OB Lager. There will also be select discounted beer and wines. The best news is Black Hogg will continue its new happy hour after May 1.

Rascal's happy hour is offered Tuesday April 28th through Sunday from 5-7p and all night long on Mondays, and they have two exclusive items on the list for Happy Hour Week--Salmon Tartare and the Rascal Rickle cocktail. There's also a fried chicken sandwich and fried chicken and gravy for those who love a deep fried bird. The perfectly bubbly drink to ease you into the evening would be their Cold Duck--an effervescent blend of sangria and cava.

During dineLA Happy Hour Week, popular Melrose eatery Gracias Madre will host its vegetarian and vegan menu from 3-6p. Now Boarding is all about the cocktails from 6-8p Tuesday through Friday and all night long on Monday. All specialty drinks will be nearly half price, including the Wheels Up (peach whisky, aperol, lemon and tangerine juice), the Jetsetter (gin, Pavan, lime, cucumber, mint and egg white) and the Puddle Jumper (tequila, mezcal, ginger, mint, lime and honey). The Komodo Food Truck will be parked outside Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 6-8p with tacos.

With 3 locations, Cafe Gratitude's downtown location is the only one participating in dineLA's Happy Hour Week. Make sure to try the asparagus arancini, truffled macadamia cheese crostini or Mediterranean-inspired mezze plate with tomato preserves, zucchini hummus and kalamata olives at a low price. There are also a few tasty wines and beers on the menu, as well as the Sassy (cava, strawberry shrub) and the Excited (lime, cucumber, mint, sparkling wine).

If you haven't been to the new DTLA Plan Check location, this is your chance. Of the few Plan Check restaurants scattered around the city, it is the only restaurant in the chain offering a dineLA deal. Serving the usual 4-7p happy hour menu with beer nuts, beast fries, tacos hamburguesa, and more, the eatery will also be offering the Smokey Juarez (mezcal, blood orange, lemon juice, simple syrup and smoked salt) as the week's exclusive cocktail.

Abigaile's R&D happy hour runs from 5-7p with dishes that change often, which pays homage to the chefs' "research & development" theme.
