Aside from the many outdoor activities Orange County offers, the area is widely known as being a cultural center for the arts. From art festivals to museum exhibits and more, Orange County is putting on a show to round out the 2014 season and make a splash for the new year. So, if you're looking for a little culture in your life, these art events cater to all ages and will add some fun to your winter calendar.

Tom LaDuke, Glenn Kaino and Alexandra Grant are coming to Orange County Museum of Art and will "discuss what it means to be groundbreaking in today's art world." Laguna Beach is about to turn into a "winter wonderland" at the Sawdust Art Festival's 24th Annual Winter Fantasy spectacular. With more than 170 artists displaying their work, live music, tasty treats, art classes and even a petting zoo, this winter extravaganza will help put you in the holiday spirit. You can shop for gifts for loved ones and purchase holiday decorations to spruce up your home. With a generous selection of clothing, jewelry, photography, sculptures, woodwork, crafts and paintings, you probably won't leave empty handed.

Highlighting luxurious French fashion worn by "royals, aristocrats, and celebrities" during the 18th century, this lecture will spark the interests of history buffs and fashion enthusiasts alike. The event will be hosted by Kimberly Chrisman-Campbell, an historian specializing in all things fashion, and will explore her book titled "Fashion Victims: Dress at the Court of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette" published by Yale University Press. The book investigates the bold, creative fashion trends before the French Revolution and how styles affected the pivotal time period in French history. In addition to an interesting, educational storyline, the book also includes scarce photographs of fashion artifacts from the 1700s. Learn more about her book here.

Thankfully, winter in Orange County is still filled with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures, so attending an outdoor art walk makes for a pleasant outing even during the winter months. The charming, low-key vibe of the Santa Ana Artist Village Artwalk is inviting, and the area is blocked off to traffic so guests can easily walk to and from the galleries. In addition to imaginative art varying among several mediums, there is live music and plenty of places in the area to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Some of the art galleries serve wine for you to enjoy while perusing the collections.

Right after Thanksgiving, bring your kiddo to the Drop-In Art Lab Projects for a day of creative expression. Taught by the Kidseum's art teachers, the classes ensure that children will have step-by-step instructions The upcoming art labs will be based off of the exhibit "China's Lost Civilization: The Mystery of Sanxingdui" and will enable kids to experiment with bronze "foil design."
