With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s time for a little (or a lot) of romance. Restaurants throughout Orange County are celebrating Cupid’s holiday with special menus guaranteed to make you smitten. Whether you are dining with your sweetheart, or family and friends, each restaurant is bound to make you appreciate the ones you are with, and wish it were Valentine’s Day every day! Here are a few stand-outs you really are not going to want to miss this year!

Let Chef John Vega take you on a romantic culinary journey with his Valentine’s Day four-course prix-fixe menu this weekend. From appetizers to desserts, guests will be dazzled by the offering being presented. For starters, chef has prepared red wine braised octopus with chimichurri, radish and micro basil and a Poached Pear Salad with goat cheese, prosciutto chips and frisee. The star main course without a doubt is the wagyu beef short rib & misoyaki Butterfish with kohlrabi puree, demi glace and baby bok choi. For dessert, choose from honey mascarpone pot de creme, strawberry guava tart and Roy’s signature chocolate souffle with raspberry coulis and vanilla ice cream.

FIG & OLIVE Newport Beach has taken care of everything this Valentine’s Day to make it the most memorable one yet. The prix-fixe dinner three-course menu (with optional pairings,) welcomes sweethearts to come in and dine on courses to “entice the senses and transport guests to the South of France.” The Grilled Maine Lobster with truffle artichoke tapenade, puff pastry, wild mushroom, and smoke pimento olive oil is everything you expect and more. Serious gourmands can enjoy the very same flavors right at home and choose from over 30 different specialty olive oils and vinegars. Each bottle comes with an “Olive Oil Guide” providing tips on how to host an olive oil tasting at home.

Fresh from the docks daily, SHOR offers simple seafood dishes packed with flavor and fresh ingredients. This Valentine’s Day, two seatings are offered at 6pm and another a 8pm, with a Chef’s specialty dessert show and amuse to start the meal with house ricotta, wild honey comb, on a fennel-sea salt cracker. The first course offers cauliflower bisque, chicken pate, or beet with “frozen” beet yogurt, watermelon and rose. Choice of entrees are Scallops with trumpet mushrooms, celery, olive and sherry butter, or a 10hr Short Rib with parsnip banana, lollipop kale, espresso, root beer and amarea cherry. But the best is yet to come with Chef’s Painted Dessert which is themed to music. The three-course Valentine’s Dinner is $65 and includes a glass of house sparkling wine.

To set the stage for the stage for a night to remember, the garden at Cafe Jardin will be open especially for Valentine’s Day. Perfect for a romantic stroll before and after dinner as a soloist musician performs throughout the evening. The menu begins with an Amuse Bouche of baked brie toast with herb roasted tomato and choices include: a wild mushroom soup with truffle chantilly or red & yellow steamed beets. The main course features Pan Roasted barramundi bass with Spanish rice and shrimp bisque sauce with broccolini blossoms; or roasted rack of lamb, provencal grilled vegetable tain, and sweet garlic pesto sauce. To round out the evening, couples will enjoy Pascal’s flourless chocolate heart for two.

This Valentine’s Day, enjoy a four course pre-fixe menu with champagne toast at The Cannery Seafood of the Pacific. Savor the flavors and atmosphere as you start with Lobster soup with truffle whipped cream, and Market lettuce, Buratta cheese, roasted baby beets, raspberries, and red wine gastrique with toasted walnuts. Entrees being served for the romantic holiday include a grilled filet, cave aged gruyere mash potatoes with a roasted mushroom sauce and optional Australian lobster tail. Another savory plate is the Grilled chicken breast, carrot orzo, honey roasted carrots, and carrot greens pesto. Last, but certainly not least, Bittersweet chocolate ganache tart, milk chocolate ice cream, cherry sauce on a cocoa nib crumble.

Scott’s Seafood in Costa Mesa is serving up another delicious Valentine’s Day dinner. This year, on February 14, dinner will start at 4pm and end at 10:30pm and include starters like their romaine salad with crimson beets, and grape dressing, an Asian pear salad with lavender vinaigrette, as well as a Kobe beef carpaccio with pickled sweet peppers. For the main course, you’ll have your choice of one of the following: a seared king salmon with pepita sauce and potato shishito hash, a Chilean sea bass, Hokkaido scallops, the filet mignon, or the Maine lobster tail with chorizo risotto and haircot verts which is truly delicious. Hungry for dessert? They’re offering cheesecake stuffed beignets with fresh strawberries, a lemon tart or a chocolate ganache cake.
