Best Trivia Nights In Los Angeles

Trivia game nights are trending on the bar scene in L.A. It's a sweet opportunity to show off what you know in a fun setting with cocktails, bar fare and potential flirting. Competitors take their trivia seriously, as there are tournaments and leagues to join. In fact, there are trivia nights available every night of the week. Bring your noggin and wits to these five local bars and pubs, where the food is great and the drinks are on.

This old school pub brings out the trivia every Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. Hosted through Big Happy Trivia, it is usually best to make a reservation by emailing bighappytrivia@gmail.com. The first place winner gets a $75 bar tab, and second place wins a $25 bar tab. The trivia game is free for anyone to play (no cover or minimum). The Garage, though, is more than game night. For pub fare, The Garage puts its own twist on tater tots, sliders and desserts. Here, you must try the Garage tots (bacon, truffle or jalapeno), which are served with house-made chipotle ketchup, any of the sliders (lobster, pulled pork, short rib and more) and shrimp cocktail served with a "bloody mary" sauce. The bar offers whiskeys, ryes, bourbons, wines and beers, too.

It's sports and games all the time at The Fox & Hounds. This English pub hosts a Pub Quiz on Monday and Wednesday nights where participants come to test their knowledge and/or show off. The menu is traditional English with favorite eats including fish and chips, Scotch eggs, bangers and mash and shepherd's pie (meat and vegetarian). Desserts are authentically English as well. Check out live musical entertainment on the weekends.

Not only for UCLA fans (big screens are reserved for UCLA on Saturdays), Busby's is a tried-and-true venue to watch all sports including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and college football. Gamers also come here for the pub trivia tournaments on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. First, second and third place are winners. Appetizers are perfect to share with your trivia team. Find everything from nachos and Swedish meatballs to chili cheese fries and crab cakes. Stella, Fat Tire and Blue Moon drafts are offered, and bottles or glasses of wine can be ordered as well. Busby's is also popular for private events.

Where the locals come to cheer on the Packers, Pickwicks Pub is one more hot spot for trivia night. What once was burned down has now been rebuilt. The pub is new with giant TV screens and free parking. A member of the California League, Pickwicks hosts the all-around fun trivia game on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, Pickwicks is an excellent Valley hang.

A cocktail lounge that represents local history, The Famous sits in the landmark building that once housed The Famous Department store in Glendale. Today, this establishment is the place for house specialty crafted cocktails (The Famous, Ivy Rose and Spice Trader), a food menu courtesy of Vagabond Grillyard featuring signature BBQ eats and a game destination for trivia buffs. Thursday nights at 8 p.m. is dedicated to trivia tournaments and games with first, second and third place prizes. It's a fun night out as well as a great bar to catch the latest game on TV.
