Living in Southern California has its perks with the weather and location so it can be easy to overlook the arts and crafts that the area has to offer. Don’t miss out this summer on the local culture of the artisans and crafters in the area. Many of the festivals include interactive craft nights where your inner crafter can come out with the hands-on experiences. Here are some of Orange County’s best craft fairs coming your way in the summer.

Sawdust Art Festival

Designed to both entertain and educate the public about the local art scene, the Sawdust Art Festival attracts more than 200,000 visitors world-wide every year. It features over 200 local artists and also provides classes for attendees to create art pieces that are taught by professionals. The artists, all from Laguna Beach, create a village of individual booths from the ground up each year. This creates a unique experience yearly and keeps visitors coming back year after year.

The Corona Summer Arts and Crafts Show is held on more than five dates throughout the year by Susan Hatton, the creator, as a result of more than 23 years of experience promoting craft shows throughout Southern California. It is considered one of the largest craft festivals in the area. It is a great place to find unique craft work and it is a great venue for crafters to showcase their work. Marked with tradition and heritage, the Orange County Fair celebrates its 125th year of artists, craftspeople and farmers with exhibitors of all ages. The crafts and hobbies sector offer competitions in areas including fiber arts, collections, hand crafts and hobbies and jewelry arts. Guidelines for the competitions are available online here. For more than 36 years, the Sugar Plum Festival has celebrated arts and crafts with its festivals throughout the Orange County area. The handmade crafts available at the festivals have emphasis on every holiday season where you can find unique arts, crafts, jewelry, home decorations, ornaments and much more. All vendors are given a Sugar Plum P.R.O.U.D. certificate that stands for “Proudly Represents Own Unique Design or Delicacy.”
