Get a taste of what Orange County has to offer with its amazing festivals and events for the arts. Every year, this area offers an abundant and abounding art scene, especially in the spring. From local artists, tributes, traveling exhibits and an insight into art from military veterans, there are lots of to choose from when looking for art events in Orange County. Here are some of the best offered in the area.

'China's Lost Civilization: The Mystery Of Sangxingdui'

The Bowers Museum presents the latest from around the world and this exhibit of "China's Lost Civilization" is not one to miss. Known as "the ninth wonder of the world," "The Mystery of Sanxingdui" has been dubbed one of the greatest archeological finds and you can can get insight at the exhibit at Bowers Museum. Excavations of Sanxingdui have shown a sophisticated culture that excelled in bronze-making skills as seen in the objects left behind. Take a look at the clues available at the museum about the culture and where it may have gone after all these years. The exhibit will be on display until it travels to its next location at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Grown into one of most anticipated art events in Orange County, the Laguna Art Museum gathers art enthusiasts for one of the most successful auctions in the Southern California area. The 2014 auction was celebrated with more than 400 art enthusiasts trying to capture some sought-after work from top artists. The 2015 auction will be tackle the 50s jazz to mid-century modern design exploring the hard-edge abstract art to creative work from Californians that many would define as "cool." The silent auction will be following by a fast-paced live auction by Andrea Fiuczynski, the chairman for Sotheby's West Coast. The event will be catered from local restaurants and there will be a selection of wines and a live DJ for entertainment.

'Alien She'

The punk feminist movement that emerged in the early 1990s will be up for display in the first exhibition of "Alien She," examining the lasting impact of Riot Grrrl on the environment today. The Riot Grrrl movement helped influence and inspire many globally to become active socially and politically as artists, authors, educators and activists. Some of the work that is the result of this movement comes from individuals including Ginger Brooks Takahashi, Tammy Rae Carland, Miranda July and much more. There are more than 900 objects and the exhibit is curated by Astria Suparak and Ceci Moss. The exhibit will also travel to the Pacific Northwest College of Art: Feldman Gallery & Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland from September 15, 2015 to January 9, 2016.

'Cabinet of Ghosts'

On Saturday March 7th, 'Cabinet of Ghosts' opens at The Orange County Center for Contemporary Art where visitors can explore work from artists featuring the aftermath of catastrophe, genocide and war. Curated by Sayon Syprasoeuth and Michael EB Detto, the exhibit enters the world of the artist as the storyteller and researcher. Inspired by Michael Detto's project, "Cambodian Ghosts," the exhibit is an opportunity for the artists to have an open dialogue on the ghosts of the past and present the work they feel will encompass the theme of the exhibit. There will also be an opening night performance by Dengue Fever.

'Service: Works by California Artists Who Are Military Veterans'

The free exhibit held in Orange County features the work of artists from each branch for the US military at various levels of career. As part of the Cal Humanities 2014 "War Comes Home" initiative, 27 veterans will be featured as it explores the diversity and range of activities in civic engagement from the perspective of those that are taking part in the civic duty: military veterans. California is home to many veterans that come home from war and active duty and an exhibit like this one helps the community gain a better perspective of what it takes to deal with coming home from such locations.
