The coffee cake that you'll find at this Persian bakery is a little different than what might you may be used to, but you'll appreciate the difference. This is a layered cake that tastes like a mocha on a plate, and it will perk up your taste buds. This is a moist treat that is even better when it is accompanied by a coffee drink - particularly an espresso. Assal is in a busy shopping center, so parking can be a little tricky, but this cake definitely makes it worth any trouble.

Poul's carries 12 different kinds of coffee cakes including raspberry (pictured) and apricot with almond filling. The center is soft and practically melts in your mouth while the edge of the crust is perfectly flaky. It's a pretty safe bet that you won't just make one visit to this bakery.
