Al Amir Bakery
905 S. Brookhurst St.
Anaheim, CA 92804
Not your typical pizza joint, Al Amir Bakery serves Lebanese-style crispy “cheese” flatbreads a la pizza. The bakery recently reopened after a fire, and locals cannot get enough of Al-Amir’s food. Each flatbread is created from a traditional Middle Eastern dough recipe. Baked in a brick oven, the cheese flatbreads are topped with two white cheeses and ackawi, a Bulgarian cheese. For your first Al Amir flatbread (and every one after that), request a sprinkling of zaatar (a pungent mix of Middle Eastern herbs). Patrons can also select house-made beef sausage — smoky, spicy soujouk or kafta (black pepper, parsley and onion) to top the manaesh (pie).
