What do you have planned for this week, Los Angeles? April is heading out the door and with May comes a fresh new opportunity for fun and adventure throughout the city. Family fun can be found this weekend at numerous early Cinco de Mayo festivals, or bring in some culture with the closing of Brit Week at theaters across L.A. Ready for a culinary adventure? Try out an egg white cocktail or guacamole topped with grasshoppers! For more typical fare, head to a wine pairing feast to get you through your midweek. All that eating requires some dedicated workout time, so consider heading to a workout themed weekend just for grown-ups.

Easter may be over, but with National Egg Month starting this May, Ray's & Stark Bar is offering up a variety of "breakfast for dinner" egg dishes created by Executive Chef Kris Morningstar (no pun intended). From Green Eggs and Ham, to poached or soft-boiled, egg custard served with asparagus and egg based pasta, Ray's & Stark Bar is the place to be for breakfast meals. They even will be offering egg white cocktails from the bar! Try "The Rocktail" with Campo de Encanto Pisco, chamomile syrup, lemon juice, egg whites, and fennel pollen or "The Al Pepino" with Altos Tequila Plata, cucumber, fresh lime juice and egg white. Head to the LA County Museum of Art this Tuesday, April 29th to enjoy their ongoing Tuesday Matinee series, running classic films each Tuesday at 1pm. This week features the 1949 version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's inspired "The Great Gatsby," staring Alan Ladd, Betty Field, and MacDonald Carey. Screened in the beautiful Bing Theatre on 35mm film, this classic offers the perfect mid-day lunch break. The matinee is only $4 and starts at 1pm.

The annual Guacamole Festival returns this May 1 through June 16th at La Sandia in Santa Monica. Chef/Owner Richard Sandoval will be offering five unique varieties of table-side prepped guacamole inspired by various regions of Mexico. This year's recipes include Yucatan guacamole (with shrimp ceviche, spicy salsa habanero, salsa fresca, orange, lime, and sea salt), Sur guacamole (topped with grasshoppers, tomatillo, cotija cheese, onion, chile cascabel, cilantro, lime, and sea salt!), and Baja guacamole (kiwi, jicama, strawberry, mango, mint, chile arbol, lime, and sea salt), among others.

Although it is still a day early, Cinco de Mayo is in full swing in LA. Head to Olvera Street at the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument for traditional music, dancing, and food from 10am-10pm daily. Tortilla Republic in West Hollywood is boasting its 2nd annual Cinco Cuatro de Mayo Block Party from 2pm-10pm where you can enjoy live DJs, plenty of dance opportunities, $6 margaritas, and the chance to make a world record for the most sombreros worn at an event!
