Anytime is a good time for live music - particularly when it's getting close to the holidays where you get some days off of work. As usual, Orange County has a lot to offer when it comes to live music. From 80s favorites to excellent country artists, these are some of the best shows you'll find in November in our fair county.

There is a lot of criticism of the country music that comes out of Nashville, and you can debate whether or not it's valid. That being said, if more singers like Nikki Lane were played on the radio, perhaps the criticism of country music would lessen. Lane has a voice that definitely brings to mind some of the country singers from the past. There is a mixture of sweetness and toughness in her voice that is irresistible. Oh, and she toured with local favorites Social Distortion all summer. Nikki Lane plays The Constellation Room on Nov. 29. Tickets for this show are $15.

If you were a regular listener of alternative-rock radio or college-rock radio in the mid-90s, you probably heard "Possum Kingdom." It was a good song for its time and place, and it still stands up. While that was the band's best-known hit, it wasn't the only thing the band has ever done. In fact, just last week, Toadies released its newest album "Heretics." It's a bit different than what the band did in the 90s. It's more mellow, but still good. You can see Toadies play an acoustic set at The Coach House on Nov. 21. Tickets for this show are $20.

Hayes Carll is one of those country artists that you hear and wonder "why doesn't everybody know this guy?" Like so many singer-songwriters before him, Carll tells a good story. They're good stories because they make you think, and they quite possibly remind you of things that have happened in your life. This is a great place to see him because it is intimate but also has room for dancing, which you might feel you need when you hear him play. Hayes Carll plays The Coach House on Nov. 19. Tickets for this show are $20.

As the frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland has certainly left his mark on the music business. He's still going strong and released a new album, "Blaster," earlier this year with his band The Wildabouts. Weiland still knows how to rock as the singer of a band, and he'll prove it to you at this show. Scott Weiland plays the Anaheim House of Blues on Nov. 4. Also on the bill is The Icarus Line. Tickets for this show range from $25 to $45.

If you were around in the 80s, you are probably a fan of Psychedelic Furs. After all, songs by this band ended up on the soundtrack of several classic 80s movies. Beyond that, the band has left enough of a mark that its songs have been covered by artists ranging from Counting Crows to Robyn Hitchcock. Psychedelic Furs play the Anaheim House of Blues on Nov. 14. Also on the bill for this show is Max and The Moon. Tickets for this show range from $30 to $55.
