Known as one of the most famous icons of LA, the Griffith Observatory has mesmerized visitors for years with cosmic wonders. Volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable, and there are several interactive booths waiting to unleash nuggets of wisdom. For a $5 fee, students may enjoy the cosmos in the planetarium. Views surround the observatory for 360 degrees, so it's best to come on a clear day. Monthly public star parties outside promise views of the sun, moon, planets and other objects through telescopes.
