A night out in Southern California can be filled with laughter with some of the best comedians performing in the local improv venues. Regular shows are available from well-known venues that feature top comedians and you may even be lucky enough to catch an up-and-coming comedians. Here are some of the local venues in Orange County for the best improv comedy.

The newly renovated Irvine branch of Improv is host to some of the best comedians in the industry and located in a vibrant location in Irvine – The Spectrum. It has also joined forces with a popular restaurant in the area, Umami Burger, and offers its specialty menu during shows at the Improv. The comedy chain is now in 21 locations throughout the United States and is a great location that brings in some of the best like Dana Carvey, Adam Corolla, Gabriel Iglesias, David Spade and much more.

If you are looking for a great place to enjoy comedy with the whole family, ImprovCity is the place go. Since it began in 2009, the 90-minute shows have been clean and appropriate for all ages. Comedians perform games, scenes and songs on the spot depending on the audience’s suggestions. This creates a unique experience each time where no two shows are ever the same. There are two shows on Friday and on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. each day. The Improv also works with local schools to help programs in the arts by helping in areas that include team building, public speaking and gaining confidence when decision making.

The Brea Improv is part of the chain of comedy venues and is one of the more established locations that has opened its doors to many top comedians from all over. When catching a show at this location, those who dine will have the opportunity to skip the line and get priority seating. Make sure to note that when purchasing the tickets. Some comedians that have performed at this location include Russell Peters, Bob Saget, Jo Koy and Pablo Francisco, just to name a few.

Since its inception in 2003, this venue has been a popular destination for locals looking for a night of laughter. The shows start at 11 p.m. and have been $5 since 2003. But if you’re looking for a challenge, you can toll a 10-sided dice and “pay what you roll.” Although there are no age restrictions, most of the shows are said not to be ideal for children under the age of 13. The cast takes part in skits and clever humor that brings people coming back for more.

Located inside The Fuzion building, Surf City Comedy Club was a lifelong dream of owner Bob Perkell. Co-owner Jeff Capri also has an extensive comedic history and both have created this venue to bring humor to the Orange County area. Every Friday and Saturday, you can enjoy local comedians and purchase tickets at the door or online at the website provided. This location also provides comedy classes by Capri who has worked on numerous shows including “Comic Unleashed,” “Last Comic Standing” and has worked with entertainers that range from Ellen Degeneres to Adam Sandler and Joy Behar.
