As the temperature rises, we’re taking advantage of the great ice cream places all over town. Here are The Best, at your service as you get ready to celebrate National Ice Cream Day July 15.

I have passed by this shop so many times always on my way somewhere else. Finally I found myself with an extra minute to stop and I was so glad I did. Yes, they have food and baked goods, but the best part is their homemade ice cream. Sit at a table outside and enjoy an ice cream sandwich and some great people watching on the side. Or if you don’t want to hang out and find a parking place they have Curbside Pick-Up & Takeout available all day!

All local all the time. Their everyday flavors are all homemade and extremely good, but they kick it up a notch each month with new seasonal flavors from whatever is fresh and available from the farmers market. May’s flavors include Lemon Chamomile, Candied cherry with homemade chocolate chips, Blueberry Muffin, Brown butter with lemon wafer, Rose geranium with salty pistachio, Cherry sorbet and Tangelo granite.

If you are looking for the old-fashioned soda fountain feel, look no further than Fosselmans. With 48 flavors of ice cream, frozen yogurt, cakes and even an old fashioned candy shoppe, this shop has tasty treats, and offers a fun family outing.

This is the place to go if you have exploratory taste buds. The flavors here are out of the box and all really good. Everyday flavors include Brown Sugar Vanilla, Lemon Basil Sorbet and Strawberry Buttermilk, while seasonal flavors can include Brown Butter Sage and Pear Wine Sorbet. Your mouth will thank you. Trust me. If you can’t make it out to Pasadena you can find them at the Hollywood Farmers Market on Sundays.

De Soto Pharmacy has been around for over 50 years serving their Winnetka neighborhood with personal service and their great slogan “From banana splits to wheelchairs.” They even offer home delivery!
