A friend-date is not a date-date, or a romantic date. It's something intended for friendship building and bonding. Sharing common interests. Enjoying each others company. Unlike the more romantic variety, which many times has an altogether different aim and endgame, the friend-date is both journey and destination. It's simply about spending time with someone you really enjoy being around. There are many locations around the Los Angeles area that are perfect for your next date out with friends.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or LACMA, as it is commonly referred to, has been in operation since its 1965 inception. It's the largest art museum in the western United States, with around 130,000 objects, ranging from antiquity to the present. It's a good friend-date choice because it's quiet, which allows for conversation, and it takes time, which is the most important factor in any relationship.

There are few activities better than eating a meal with a friend. And where better to meet with a friend than at the famous Langer's Delicatessen and Restaurant? It's been a Los Angeles institution since 1947 thanks to their corned beef or pastrami sandwiches. While you and your friend are there, one of you must try the #19, the joint's most popular sandwich, which includes hot pastrami, coleslaw Russian dressing and a slice of Swiss on baked rye bread.

Although Hollywood is mostly known for its glitz and glamor, it also has its more down-to-Earth side. One example of this less-start-studded side is the Hollywood Farmer's Market. Established in 1991, this is a gathering of neighbors gets together to buy and sell edible goods. Who says you can't find a real life farmer in Hollywood? This is a fine place for friends to stroll, shop and eat well.

Although it's about actual stars (you know, those bright light in the night sky), many around the world were first exposed to the Griffith Observatory when it was used as a backdrop in the James Dean film, Rebel Without a Cause. It sits on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. In fact, it's the best vantage point for you and your friend to observe the equally world-famous Hollywood Sign.

There are few better places to see an outdoor concert than the Hollywood Bowl. Sure, you can always go to what the industry calls 'sheds.' These are simplistic outdoor arenas that cannot match the grandeur and elegance of the Bowl. Then there's the history. Greats like the Beatles played there. It's the location for the annual Playboy Jazz Festival. It's also a venue when you can see a philharmonic one night, and the latest alternative rock craze the next. You and your friend can take in a favorite musical act, marvel at the beauty of the Bowl's white shell stage and enjoy SoCal's wonderful weather. This is also a venue that has no problem with patrons bringing in picnic lunches/dinners and fine wine. A beautiful place to spend time together.
