Dates: February 11, 2016 – February 14, 2016On Valentine’s Day, the Segerstrom Center for the Arts will be putting on a special show at their Samueli Theater. “The Hot Sardines” is group of 8 which is generating high excitement with their sounds of special jazz. Forbes Magazine hailed them as one of the best jazz bands, and they will make their way to Orange County for a special performance audiences won’t want to miss. With glamor, grit, and plenty of energy, it’l be a great Valentine’s Day show.

Perfect for a more adventurous couple looking for a fun, unique evening, “Brenton Wood’s Valentine Love Jam” is sure to please. On Valentine’s Day, Brenton Wood, along with special guests Soto, will sing his version of American Soul & R&B tunes for audiences starting at 7pm. The singer/songwriter, who has been around since the 60’s, is best known for his two hit singles “The Oogum Boogum Song” and “Gimme Little Sign”. The show is all ages, and just $40 for general admission, but you can also get VIP seating and bottle service with special reservations.

Date: February 14, 2016Tony-Award winning “Red” takes a look at Mark Rothko and modern art for a special stage performance today at the illustrious South Coast Repertory. Learn about the life and times of the storied New York artist Mark Rothko in playwright John Logan’s Tony winner “Red.” The story focuses on Rothko in 1958 as he ponders the emergence of pop art and readies a commissioned painting for the fancy Four Seasons restaurant. His young and naive fictionalized assistant is tasked with mixing the paint and readying the canvas, but he’s soon challenging Rothko’s stance on modern art and begins to question his decision to create such a commercial work. The question of “What do you see?” begins an interesting conversation on life and art.

The ageless Peters, who boasts a decades-long successful career on the Broadway, film and television stage, recently starred in the critically acclaimed Broadway production of “Follies” after a highly successful run at the Kennedy Center, and can be seen in the Golden-Globe winning TV series, “Mozart in the Jungle.” Recent hit performances have included Peters turning up the heat for Peggy Lee’s “Fever”; Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “There is Nothin’ Like a Dame” (from “South Pacific”); “Children Will Listen” and “No One is Alone” (from “Into the Woods”); “In Buddy’s Eyes” and “Losing My Mind” and many others.
