Tribute bands are a great alternative if your favorite band is no longer playing (for whatever reason), or if it just doesn't come around very frequently. You get all of the songs and memories without having to pay for a ticket at an arena show. Orange County is no stranger to tribute bands. Here are some of the best you'll find.

One of the keys to being a successful tribute band is to choose a band - like Oingo Boingo - where you won't necessarily have to compete against a dozen other bands performing the same songs. Oingo Boingo was kind of an odd band, but it allows Dead Man's Party to stand alone as a tribute band - and it truly does stand alone. Dead Man's Party has really captured the essence, sound and energy of Oingo Boingo. The best evidence of that is seeing venues (like amphitheaters for instance) full of fans singing along with every song.

Jumping Jack Flash

One of the reasons to see a tribute band is that you can hear all of your favorite songs without having to pay the money to see the actual band whose music you enjoy. If you go to see Jumping Jack Flash, you will sing along with all your favorite Rolling Stones songs. More than that, you will have an experience - including Mick Jagger's dance moves - that is probably the next best thing to seeing the Stones live.

The 80s are long gone, but a love for 80s music lives on as strongly as ever. That's where Flashback Heart Attack - 2013 OC Music Award winners for Best Tribute band - comes in. Instead of performing the songs of just one band, Flashback Heart Attack plays your favorites from the 80s, including "Dancing with Myself," Jesse's Girl" and many more. If you've been looking for a reason to break out your skinny ties and your jelly shoes, look no further than the next show by this band.

The Beatles recorded for a relatively short time, but remain one of the most enduring bands ever - to the point that countless tribute bands have devoted themselves to playing songs of The Beatles. Paperback Writer wants to give you The Beatles experience from "The Ed Sullivan Show" through "Let It Be" - and it does an excellent job. The bassist even learned how to play left-handed to give the band even more authenticity. This band plays all of The Beatles hits and makes them sound just as they did when they were originally recorded. If you love the music of The Beatles, you will love this band.

The music of AC/DC is infectious. You can admit it. When you hear AC/DC on the radio, you pump your fist and sing as loud as you can. Don't worry, you're not alone. Whether it's cost or the rarity, an AC/DC show in southern California is not something you can experience regularly. However, you can get the AC/DC experience with TNT. This band nails the sound and the energy of an AC/DC performance. And let's face it, you need not feel as self-conscious about singing along and pumping your fist when you're in a venue full of people doing the same thing.
