If you're telecommuting and you want to work in a coffee shop, you're not alone. However, you're probably looking for certain qualities in the place where you want to work. Namely, you want a place with good coffee, good food and an atmosphere that is conducive to getting some work done. In short, you want to settle into a place and make it so you don't have to leave until your work is done. Try these cafes if you're looking for a place to get some work done.

J.C. Beans is a great place for getting some work done as is is a cozy little coffee shop that is relatively quiet even when it's crowded. In addition to great coffee and espresso, J.C. Beans also offers WiFi and food, including delightful breakfast burritos filled with eggs, cheese, potatoes and your choice of either ham or vegetables. Lined with books in case you need a little intermission from work, this place even has a fireplace so you can stay nice and cozy in the winter.

When you walk into Portola Coffee Lab, you'll notice that they take coffee very seriously. With its unusual brewing devices and staff in white coats, it really does look more like a lab than a coffee shop. Although it gets pretty busy, there is enough space that you can work without being bothered too much by the crowd. If you do need a break for food at some point during the day, you'll find plenty of great options in the OC Mart Mix before returning to work at Portola.

Visiting Kean Coffee, you'll find a lot to love about this coffee shop with its clean and friendly environment that is the cafe equivalent of the neighborhood bar. If you have some work to get done, this is a great place to do it. In addition to coffee that is roasted right in the store, you'll find some good little nooks to get your work done. The cooler holds sandwiches and amazing desserts if you need something to eat during the day. Kean has a tendency to get crowded, so if you want to work there, you may want to arrive early.

Cool Beans has everything you could want in a spot to get some work done. Namely, it has great coffee and, of course, the requisite WiFi. The menu includes sandwiches and salads that are all very reasonably priced. It's a cozy little place, but still has enough space that you can spread out your gear. If you have to work on a Sunday morning or Friday evening, be advised that Cool Beans hosts an open mic on those days.

If you have to do some work, there are worse places to get it done than right on the water on Newport Beach. If location truly is everything, then Alta is the best coffee shop in the county. Another thing that sets Alta apart is their delicious menu which has not only sandwiches, salads and soups, but also breakfast specials like French toast and breakfast sandwiches. You'll find it's pretty easy - and even enjoyable - to work here.
