The folks over at WeSPARK went and got very creative with their fundraising efforts and decided to tie in Halloween by screening the film Carrie for the 40th anniversary with their own pop-up prom in what is shaping up to be quite the event. In addition to the 70-er prom themed after party, guests can heave questions at attending members of the cast and crew of the Brian DePalma classic that will be on-hand for the screening. Guests are encouraged to dress the part and really get into the spirit of the event and the film by wearing their fines, retro black tie fashion. The Stephen King adaptation continues to endure as one of cinema's most iconic films with a particularly unforgettable scene. Watch it in good company for a great cause.

Arcadia, CA 91007

Earlier this year, Santa Anita Park hosted their second Michelada Rumble and some 10,000 eager partygoers ditched the Southern California stereotype and arrived early to rage during the daytime. The Michelada Rumble is a unique merger that is equal parts beer festival, concert, lucha libre, car show, art show, and food truck festival all packaged with some waging at horse track. With the nexus being the "michelada" this blue collar Bloody Mary is uniquely Southern California in it's mix of beer, citrus, spice, and tomato juice. Boasting dozens of vendors all with their own take on the beer/cocktail, guests can explore live music, masked Mexican wrestling, or art of both the conventional and automotive types in between betting on the ponies and sipping on their 'chela. With a live performance from primer Smiths and Morrissey tribute band, The Sweet and Tender Hooligans, this is a daytime fiesta that has all the makings of an annual tradition.
