After attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, Nikki Minton worked as a publicist for a PR firm in Beverly Hills. That is where she became "obsessed" with all things related to fashion. She is comprehensive in her research of fashion trends that are accessible to every woman, not just the rich and famous.

Nikki Minton was born and raised in southern Louisiana and started My Style Diaries in 2011 as a way not only to work her passion for fashion, but also to act as a consultant for women everywhere who seek help in knowing how to dress well. Her obsessive approach to fashion helps readers know what to wear to be fashionable for the office, a night out and just about any other occasion. She happily provides guidance not just for fashion, but also for beauty products and travel.

Change Your Accessories And Colors
Dressing for fall can be difficult when it's scorching out (as it frequently is in Orange County), but by changing up your accessories or color palette, you can look the part without breaking a sweat. Switch out your summer dresses for a lightweight dress in a darker fall hue like oxblood, navy or deep green. Trade in your summer handbag for something a bit more structured like a top-handle satchel. Replace your sandals with a pair of peep-toe booties that feel like fall but still give you room to breathe. Lastly, stash your straw hat in favor of a wool topper.

Add Blues And Greens This Fall
While some colors never go out of style, every season there are some signature colors that you'll see regularly. If you want to lead in the color trend, you have to anticipate the signature colors of a given season. Minton says, "This fall, navy, deep blues and bold greens will be everywhere. For a more bold pop of color, choose a deep, spicy mustard yellow."

Look For Items By Great Fall Designers
Every designer produces clothes and accessories for fall, but some designers just do fall better than others. If you're looking for great fall pieces, according to Minton, "Rag & Bone makes the best booties, wool hats and skinnies for fall, perfect for the gal looking for great investment pieces. For more affordable pieces I love the designers Wayf and Hinge" (both available at Nordstrom).

Spruce Up Your Fall Wardrobe With Must-Have Items
You want to be stylish every season, but chances are you don't have the budget to get an entirely new wardrobe four times a year. However, you can really spruce up your wardrobe with just the right touches for any given season. For fall "you've got to have a great pair of booties. Choose a high heel, a flat or something in between that you can wear with dresses, skinnies or even a pair of leather shorts. A tailored shirtdress is another great fall staple, and a couple of well-cut blouses can be worn a ton of different ways. Also, there's no time better than fall to score a new handbag in a statement color of the season."
