In Los Angeles "looking the part" isn't just for actors. It goes for everyone who wants to get ahead. Wearing the right clothes, colors and style plays a big part in how far you go. Going into a interview, audition, first date or a pitch meeting can be nerve-wracking enough, but if you're looking good, you're already ahead in the game. And this summer will be no different.

Joy Yassan is the owner and buyer for Indexx women's clothing. From opening her first store in Taiwan to becoming a buyer for a high end shoe and handbag store and flying to Paris, New York and Milan four times a year, she has been in the fashion industry almost her entire life. Over time, she saved enough money to open her first store, Indexx, in Studio City and then a second one in the NoHo Arts District.

The following trends are important, but a lot of her clothing can be worn from season to season. "I don't pick things that are too trendy because most of it is not functional in our daily lives," says Joy. "I want my customer to care for the clothes they can wear for years to come and that's why they keep coming back year after year." Check out Joy's fashion predictions for summer 2016.

The '70s Are Back

Take the best glam styles of the '70s (think Twiggy, Cher, Bowie) and modernize them, and you've got what's hot this summer. There will be a lot of metallics, gold, copper and silver with silver accents and geometric shapes. "We are '70s chic now for summer into fall, but a little goes a long way," warns Joy. And don't try to force different trends together. "I'm not going to buying something that doesn't fit my merchandise, meaning I won't pair a Vince trouser with a rayon psychedelic top. That's not happening."

Summer Colors

In contrast to the metallics, there are going to be a lot of softer colors too. "The color for my store stays somewhat neutral with a lot of black, white, blue, gray, but this summer, I'll have pops of soft pink, yellow and blue," says Joy. Having a few light pieces is a great way to brighten up your wardrobe as well as keep you cool this summer. Picking breathable fabrics that allow movement will also help.

Prints

From bold to soft and simple, printed pieces are another trend that will trickle into summer. "Florals of all kinds are going to make a strong appearance," predicts Joy as she's already beginning to add them to her store's collection. Flora, from the California poppy all the way to the oriental lotus, will bloom on all sorts of pieces. Large, small, intricate and simple, botanicals will be everywhere you look. Whether on a graphic t-shirt, maxi dress or embroidered on flared denim, you should have at least one flower in your closet.

Shoes

All sorts of things are happening with shoes this summer. "While they didn't exactly go out of style, stacked heels and wedges are going to be back and in demand this season with lots of silver and neutrals," says Joy. Another big trend will be vegan shoes like Rieker Antistress and Aetrex. Colored velvet, mules and LED lighted shoes for adults will also be trending. And of course, proper fitting shoes and pedicures are always a must if you're showing off your feet.

Sets

Sets can be tricky. If the color is too bright or the print is too busy, the set won't look flattering no matter how great your figure is. It's better to keep it simple and soft when considering a set. "Culotte sets and Canadian Tuxedos are also happening this summer," says Joy. We've already seen a sneak preview with Kendall Jenner in her double denim and Rihanna in culotte sets, and it looks great. "Of course, for summer, the materials will be lighter, but it's another throwback to the 70's that people are getting into."
