College Football Week 6: #5 Georgia At #6 South Carolina

Tennessee v Georgia South Carolina v Kentucky

Georgia

South Carolina

Mark Richt has his team at 5-0 heading into this huge showdown in the SEC East. Georgia has lost two straight to South Carolina. Coaching Steve Spurrier was out of line when he called out a local writer for a couple of negative articles in an attempt to get him fired. Gamecock fans hope he is focused on Georgia.
The Bulldogs are in the top 11 in the country in both scoring and total offense thanks to a balanced attack: quarterback Aaron Murray is looking like a Heisman contender and a pair of freshmen have anchored the ground game. Offense Connor Shaw has completed 50 of his 64 passes, a 78 percent success rate. Combine that with Marcus Lattimore and his eight touchdown runs and you’ve got a dangerous offense.
If it weren’t for four turnovers (three interceptions), Georgia would have lost to Tennessee last week. But the Vols have a potent offense; Georgia’s defense, led by Jarvis Jones, can harass opposing quarterbacks. Defense As good as Georgia is rushing the quarterback, SC is better: the Gamecocks are second in the country with 22 sacks thanks to players like sophomore stud Jadeveon Clowney.
Georgia has some dangerous return men and a reliable kicker. Special Teams The Gamecocks have been above-average in the return game but their punting has been atrocious. It hasn’t hurt them yet.

The winner is

Tennessee v Georgia
Georgia
2 out of 4

This should be an extremely competitive game as the winner would have the inside track to the SEC Championship Game. SC probably needs a win more since it has to play at LSU and at Florida in the next two weeks. That doesn’t mean it will get it.
