#15 Kansas State

#6 Oklahoma

Bill Snyder’s second term at Kansas State, now in its fourth season, has gone about as well as the first. In other words, it didn’t take him long to turn around the program—again. The Wildcats won 10 games last season. Coaching Bob Stoops has his team at 2-0 heading into its first true test of the season. Oklahoma seems to do better when it can fly under the radar, though that would be more difficult with a win on Saturday.
The Wildcats are averaging 46 points a game behind senior Collin Klein, a 6’5”, 226-lb. tank of a quarterback. He has raised his completion percentage by 15 percent (to 72) from last year and is still a force running the ball. Offense The Sooners are 11th in the country in scoring and yards per game. Senior quarterback Landry Jones entered the season as a Heisman contender and has looked the part. The real surprise has been JUCO transfer Damien Williams, who is averaging 13 yards per carry.
KSU has forced six turnovers, which has helped a defense that has given up a fair amount of yards. The secondary hasn’t looked great, which could be a problem against the pass-happy Sooners. Defense Oklahoma’s defense struggled last year against high-powered offenses, but has looked much improved in 2012, giving up just 245 yards per game (10th best in the country).

Tyler Lockett may be the nation’s best kick returner—he was a consensus All-American at the position last year and already has a 96-yard return for a touchdown this year. The Wildcats returned their kicker and punter, both of whom are above-average.
