As members of the military veterans relief group Team Rubicon left Los Angeles for the Philippines Tuesday, local residents returned home from the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan.
A group of more than a dozen local volunteers, mostly military veterans, are scheduled to land in the Philippines Monday to aid with search-and-rescue efforts in the typhoon-ravaged country.
A group known as Team Rubicon started as an idea by two former Marines who wanted to help with relief efforts in earthquake-ravaged Haiti in January 2010.
A relief group based in Inglewood is already on the ground in New York and New Jersey helping out the residents affected by Superstorm Sandy. Team Rubicon is a group of young veterans who help those in need when natural disasters strike.
