Los Angeles Animal Care and Control officers were checking the health conditions of 32 dogs — including seven puppies — taken from a La Puente home Wednesday.
Authorities on Wednesday searched the home of a Southland breeder who some have accused of selling sick puppies on the Internet.
An officer on patrol Sunday in a Cathedral City neighborhood found four puppies living in a box, along with three others that already were dead, a police spokesman said.
Animal services officials are seeking a suspect who tied five puppies to a tree under an active beehive in San Diego County. Three of the dogs were found dead and two were critically injured.
Two puppies, who suffered third-degree burns in a house fire in February, were released to a foster home Wednesday night.
