OC Man Convicted For Bank Hostage-Taking

Fifty-six-year-old Myung Jae Kim of Irvine was found guilty Friday of false imprisonment, assault, possession of a destructive device and making criminal threats. He faces up to 24 years in prison.

Attempted Murder Charges Filed Against Man Who Held Bank Manager Hostage In Buena Park

A 54-year-old Irvine man accused of holding a Buena Park bank manager hostage and prompting a standoff, was charged with four counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with a firearm on a peace officer and other counts, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Man Who Reportedly Took Bank Manager Hostage Was Carrying Pipe Bombs

Authorities have revealed that the suspected robber who took the manager of Saehan Bank hostage Thursday was also stashing a pipe bomb in his back pocket and three more inside the building where he was waging a police standoff, police reported.
