A proposed half-cent sales tax increase was shot down by Los Angeles voters Tuesday, according to the City Clerk’s office.
Early returns released by the City Clerk’s Office show City Controller Wendy Greuel and former councilman Eric Garcetti neck-and-neck in the race for mayor, while a half-cent Los Angeles sales tax to fund public safety and other city services appears to be falling short.
Voters in unincorporated communities north of Riverside may approve cityhood for the Jurupa Valley Tuesday.
