Ancient Arcadia Grove Cleared Despite Tree-Sitting Protest

Public works crews pulled up stumps Thursday amid toppled oak and sycamore trees following the arrests of four tree sitters who hoped to prevent the grove from becoming a dumpsite for tons of sediment dredged from behind a dam.

Protesters Climb Trees To Save Arcadia Grove

Protesters have blocked a gate in hopes of saving 11 acres of oaks and sycamores that Los Angeles County officials plan to clear so that sediment dredged from behind a dam can be dumped there.
