The California Legislature is getting involved in questions about short-term vacation rentals in quiet, residential neighborhoods, with at least two bills proposed to regular AirBNB and other similar brokers in the state.

California state government departments will be prohibited from selling or displaying items with an image of the Confederate flag under a bill that passed the Assembly on Monday.
Smoking inside home day care centers would be banned under a bill targeting so-called “third-hand smoke” that lingers indoors.
The ban would apply to property owned or operated by the state.
