The crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the 5500 block of Washington Boulevard in Commerce, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said.
“It was a lot of speed in the car accident, it was quite a boom,” said Ricardo Ponzo, who lives nearby.
Detectives later located the man and said he was drinking.
