Firefighters Monday continued to work to extinguish hot spots caused by a massive fire at a 5-acre pallet yard in Fontana.
“Before you hit the hill, you are sweating profusely. Then you start adding the hills and the hiking and all the gear that we carry and dehydration becomes a big factor,” Captain Todd Downing says.
L.A. City Fire personnel were called to the scene in the 8800 block of Canoga Avenue Tuesday evening.
Malibu and County Fire crews were called to the scene Mulholland Highway and Canyon Drive at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after authorities say a vehicle fire spread to the brush.
Flames were reported around 3:30 p.m. on a hill near North Haskell Canyon and Bouquet Canyon roads, according to Los Angeles County Fire.
“I saw the fire right there,” she says, pointing to her neighbor’s house.
The blaze was reported just before 7 p.m., authorities said.
Los Angeles County firefighters Wednesday were battling a fire at a recycling center in Pomona.
A San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesperson tells CBS2/KCAL9 News personnel were dispatched at approximately 4:50 p.m. Monday to the 8300 block of Red Hill Country Club Drive.
“It did look pretty scary, yes,” said one patron.
The burning candle was left alone in a second-floor bathroom, where the fire originated, Concialdi said.
The fire, located in the 8800 block of Etiwanda Avenue, is engulfing the plant as firefighters are battling the blaze with heavy water cannons in at least three directions.
Authorities said the flames were largely contained to a unit on the fourth floor.
