An Aeromexico jetliner bound for Mexico City has returned to Los Angeles International Airport due to the smell of smoke in the cabin.
In 1986 an AeroMexico flight headed to LAX collided with a small plane over a quiet neighborhood in Cerritos, killing all aboard both planes, and 15 people on the ground.
No injuries were reported, but one of Los Angeles International Airport’s main runways had to be closed followed the aborted takeoff of an Aeromexico flight to Mexico City on Saturday morning.
A memorial was held Wednesday to mark the 25th anniversary of a horrific plane crash. An Aeromexico DC-9 collided with a small place over the city of Cerritos on Aug. 31, 1986.
