1968 Ford Shelby GT-500KR Convertible (Photo 2/3)
One of 518 Shelby GT500KR (King of the Road) convertibles made in 1968, this red powerhouse is owned by Bob Dallas of Westminster, CO. According to the story told to Dallas by Carroll Shelby, designer of the Shelby Mustang, Shelby heard that Chevrolet was developing a muscle car and was going to name it King of the Road. Shelby raced against the clock to trademark the name. His trademark attorneys made it to the office first and Mustang fast-paced production of the KR line that has now become a classic muscle car.
