Rumors are swirling online that Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby, born Saturday at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, was actually born to a surrogate. The star debuted her baby bump on Aug. 28 at the MTV Video Music Awards, setting a Twitter record around the announcement. At the time, Beyonce was about three months along -- the standard time when pregnant couples announce a little one is on the way. Since then, Beyonce was unlike most expectant moms, shunning comfortable flats and loose clothes for sky-high platforms and figure-hugging outfits. But in October, footage of a TV interview in Australia led to speculation that the diva was wearing a prosthetic. Either way, Blue Ivy Carter was born on Jan. 7 at a healthy 7 pounds. Most couples announce that they're expecting at 3 months, when the highest chances of miscarriage have passed. Beyonce and Jay-Z stayed mum on how far she was along or when the baby is due, for security reasons. (credit: Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

If Beyonce was indeed three months along when she announced her pregnancy at the MTV Video Music Awards in late August, that would make her due date in late February, or thereabouts. That would make Blue Ivy Carter about a month or so early, but if she was indeed born at a healthy 7 pounds, that would make a premature birth unlikely. (credit: Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

The fold that fueled the rumors
What really made people believe Beyonce was faking her pregnancy was the suspicious way her dress folds up in the middle as she sits down during this Australian interview in October 2011. However, her method of sitting versus the fold seems to be the true suspect -- most pregnant woman balance themselves with both hands on armrests, if they are available, and lower themselves backwards. Lenox Hill Hospital
Reports that Beyonce and Jay-Z paid $1.3 million to shut down an entire floor of the Lenox Hill Hospital for their baby's birth added fuel to the rumor fire. According to reports, hospital staff had their cell phones taken away, security cameras were covered up and bodyguards patrolled the hallways and wouldn't even let parents visit their children in the neonatal intensive care unit.
