“This is what a police state looks like”

No, you do an excellent job of disproving that yourself. The fact that you can go to city hall and protest there with a sign like that and not be immediately shot on sight shows we _do not_ live in a police state.

In fact, how dare you equate your situation with the situation of those who put their lives on the line in actual police states to try to end real oppression (for example, demonstrators in Syria, who the security forces are quite content to use for target practice). You live in a country that is imperfect – it has its problems – and there is nothing wrong with trying to illuminate and fix those problems – but lets not resort to lies. America is not a police state – not even close.
