Steve Grad

Steve Grad joined KNX 1070 in 1993. He has won a total of 14 Golden Mike Awards for excellence in sports reporting.
A 1972 communications graduate from Southern Illinois University, Steve began his broadcast career on KMOL-TV in San Antonio, Texas. The Chicago native has also worked for stations in Portland and Kansas City and has been a sports reporter for the USA Network, ESPN, NBC-TV, ABC-TV and Radio, Raycom Sports, Mizlou Sports and SportsChannel. Prior to joining KNX, Steve worked at WSCR radio in Chicago.
In addition to sports reporting, Steve has done play-by-play for Major League Baseball the NBA, NHL, NFL, USFL, WFL, NCAA football and basketball and covered the 1998 Winter Olympics from Nagano for CBS radio.
Steve picked up a 2006 Associated Press (APTRA) award for “Best News Segment” and in 2005 Steve won a Golden Mike award for Best Sports News Reporting (again!), presented by the Radio Television News Association of Southern California. During his career, Steve has also won 12 APTRA awards and nine L.A. Press Club awards, including the 2004 award for best “Radio Sports News” and the 2002 “Journalist of the Year” award.
