Kristine Leahy joined CBS2/KCAL9 as a sports anchor and reporter in September 2012. She anchors “Sports Central,” Southern California’s most comprehensive nightly sportscast, on KCAL9 and contributes reports from courts, fields, and sidelines all over the LA area.
Previously, Kristine worked as a sports anchor and reporter for the Fox-owned station in Boston where she covered all the professional teams in Beantown, and anchored live coverage of Super Bowl 46 from Indianapolis, and the NBA and NHL playoffs.
Kristine attended Boston University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a minor in sociology. While earning her degrees, Kristine was part of the team that created BUTV’s first sports talk show, which she co-anchored for three years.
After college Kristine began working at the infamous Boston sports radio station, WEEI, as the host of their daily sports web show, “The Five” and served as a reporter for the site and radio. She then joined the Boston Celtics as the sideline reporter for Celtics.com and Celtics on Demand and hosted The Celtics Minute. While working for the Celtics, Kristine covered the 2010 NBA finals.
Kristine enjoys writing and reporting feature stories on athletes that highlight the human side of sports. She looks forward to covering the wide variety of sports Los Angeles has to offer.
A native of Chicago, Kristine enjoys water sports, traveling, and spending time with her pug named Jersey (not named after the show, she likes to point out!).
