Sharon Tay, Rick Garcia To Emcee ‘Stars For The Arts’
LAMusArt‘s 16th annual benefit concert Stars for the Arts, emceed by Sharon Tay and Rick Garcia of CBS2/KCAL9, will be held at the beautiful Santa Monica Performing Arts Center Eli and Edythe Broad Stage on Sept. 7, 2013, at 8 p.m.
The event will feature baritone Marcelo Guzzo performing a program of opera arias, art songs, and compositions by Piazzolla and will feature the LAMusArt-Los Angeles Philanthropic Committee for the Arts Youth Orchestra, the LAMusArt Youth Choral Ensemble along with select student soloists.
With The Walt Disney Company as the evening’s presenting sponsor, the event will honor George A. Ramirez, Executive Vice President of Union Bank as well as the entire community, parents, donors and sponsors alike who have helped shaped the lives of countless youths on their journey through the arts.
Executive Director Isela Sotelo describes George as “not only a long-time supporter of LAMusArt, he is a strong supporter of youth education and empowerment initiatives throughout California.”
Ramirez has served on numerous boards of directors for civic and charitable organizations, including The Pat Brown Public Policy Institute and the UC San Diego Student-Run Free Clinic Project. He was chairman of the Southern California Junior Achievement Latino Initiative and was an executive board member for the Tomás Rivera Public Policy Institute. In addition, he is immediate-past Chairman for the White Memorial Medical Center Foundation in Los Angeles and is a member of the hospital’s Governing Board.
