Newport Beach Restaurant Week Guide

It's back! As Newport Beach gears up for this year's Restaurant Week, January 17-26, 2014, over 60 of the area's best eateries are participating in a ten day culinary extravaganza that will span over the next two weekends. Restaurants have planned very special menus and gourmet eats at a fraction of the regular prices. This is without a doubt an incredible opportunity for the dining community to try out new dining establishments and dishes by some of the best chefs in Newport Beach.

If you happen to be visiting Fashion Island, make sure to stop by Mariposa at Neiman Marcus for a very special 3-course lunch menu ($20/per person.) Starters begin with Truffle Mac and Cheese, Cream of Butternut Squash Soup or Baby Spinach and Bosc Pear Salad with candied pecans, blue cheese, fresh berries, and raspberry vinaigrette. Choice of entree includes: Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries; Roasted Bay of Fundy Salmon oven roasted sweet potatoes, braised swiss char, balsamic roasted onions and tomato broth or a Pan-Seared Top Sirloin with blue cheese gratin, cumin roasted baby carrots, broccolini and red wine reduction. For dessert, enjoy a signature NM Chocolate Chip Cookie Box.

Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine in the heart of Newport Center has planned a delightful 3-course dinner menu for $40/per person including: Lobster Bisque with Thai aromatics, coconut milk and Maine lobster for the first course. Furikake Ahi Caeser Salad with romaine, croutons, heart of palm and creamy Asian Caeser for the second. Crab Dynamite Hawaiian Ono with vegetable sushi roll and Chinese black bean sauce and Chocolate eclair for dessert.

Pelican Grill is offering attractive menu selections for both their 2-course lunch ($20/per person) and 3-course dinner ($40/per person) menus. For lunch, choice of entrees being served are: Butternut Squash Ravioli or Seared "Tombo Ahi" Tuna and for dessert, either a Peanut Butter Apple Puff Pastry Tart or Strawberry Tiramisu. Dinner begins with Mushroom Bisque or "Tombo Ahi" Crudo, followed by a choice of entrees including: Pan-Seared Barramundi or Grilled 8-ounce Prime Hanger Steak. The dessert options mirror the lunch menu.

Bluefin in Newport Coast is serving special menus for both lunch ($20/per person) and dinner ($40/per person). For lunch, diners have a choice of Iro-iro seafood with chili sauce or Tuna and Calamari sashimi salad with Korean Dressing. For the second course, choice of Chef's Omakase Sushi, tamari shoyu or Sauteed halibut, soba risotto, white truffle oil and a Pear Creme Brulee for dessert. The dinner menu is a bit different. First course starts with Season's Oyster Fritto Sumiso Sauce, Blue Crab & Scallop cake with Chinese Cabbage consume. The entree is a choice of Chef's Omakase Suchi with tamari shoyu or Japanese yellowtail, butter-lemon sauce, and for dessert - a choice of pear creme brulee or Gateau chocolate cake.

The legendary Ritz Restaurant & Garden is offering very special lunch ($20/per person) and dinner ($40/per person) menus during Restaurant Week. Both will have a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert. Appetizers include: Wild Mushroom "Cappuccino" with a parmesan straw, seared ahi tuna with seaweed salad, soy ginger sauce, wasabi and ginger or their famous Caesar of the Ritz with their traditional Caesar dressing and parmesan cheese. Entrees being offered are: Chicken Parmesan, Scampi "Provencale" or a 10oz. New York Pepper Steak. Those with a sweet tooth with enjoy The Ritz Sampler for dessert.
