Everyone knows Pasadena as the home of the Rose Bowl and the Rose Parade, but did you know it is also the home of the cheeseburger?
According to many sites including enotes.com “Lionel Sternberger is reputed to have invented the cheeseburger in the mid-1920s at the age of 16 when he was working as a fry cook at his father’s Pasadena, California sandwich shop, and experimentally dropped a slab of American cheese on a sizzling hamburger.”
To celebrate this fact Pasadena is having a Cheeseburger Week January 15 – 20, 2012. Over 20 different restaurants will be serving up their best version of the All American Cheeseburger. There are an unlimited amount of possibilities. To see all of the participating restaurants you can check out the official Pasadena Cheeseburger Week website. Here are some of the highlights.
